Introducing Tucker!

Our little family (as in the family of George and I) grew this week! George now has a little brother (well, we think it's a brother....will know for sure in a few weeks)...a baby bunny named Tucker!

Tucker is simply adorable. He is pretty small....he weighs 1 pound and 6 ounces. He is white and has caramel color spots on his back and sides. His ears and part of his face (as you can see) are also that caramel color. One of his ears is lopped and the other, well that hasn't quite been decided yet. Some of the time it is up like it is in the picture and some of the time, it lays down like the other. It takes a few weeks for their ears to fall down so it may just be taking a bit longer....or he may have one ear that just has a mind of its own and does its own thing!

You might be thinking...a HUGE dog and a bunny...how does that work??
George has been around a bunny before when Carrot was alive. He has been curious about Tucker and goes to his cage to sniff him. When I get Tucker out, George always comes up to check him out. George has even been in the room when Tucker has been out hopping around and he just stays out of the way. I'm hoping they'll soon be buddies.

For those of you who don't know, I have a soft spot for bunnies. I was in 4th grade when I got my first one. Her name was Flopsy May and she lived until I was in college!! I have also had bunnies names Mopsy, Gracie, and Carrot. I haven't had one in about a year and a half....since Carrot passed away. Just this past December, I took the cage and the hutch that it sat on up to my bonus room because I hadn't gotten a bunny and wasn't planning on getting one anytime soon. Tucker was kind of unplanned....guess he was a surprise. A teacher at school had gotten him for her kids and so she could take Easter pictures with a bunny. She then realized that her young kids might hurt the bunny because they wanted to really "play" with it. She sent an e-mail asking if anyone wanted a free bunny for classroom pet...I didn't really want a library pet, but I asker her if I could think about it for a day. And I guess the rest is history...I brought Tucker home on Wednesday!

-10 : weeks until Peachtree Road Race #6
-13 : pounds lost since I started the Lenten Challenge
-27 : days of school left
-40 : days left until the "run a mile" deadline (this will definitely be done before then)
-75 : goal of how many miles I will walk/run between Easter and Memorial Day

RaNdOmNeSs : Part Deux

So here is more randomness from my life...
  1. I love the Master's. I don't usually watch or follow golf and I don't think I would be any good if I tried to play it (I suck at putt-putt...so golf seems out of the question), but the Master's is a different story. I will be glued to the TV for most of today.
  2. I have now completed 87 of the 100 miles I set out to walk/run during Lent. Only 13 more to go! I logged a lot of miles this past week since it was Spring Break...27 miles in 7 days...not too shabby!
  3. The Braves' opening game on Friday night was a blast...so glad they won.  Thanks to JH...we had amazing seats! Great game and even better company! I see more Braves' games in my future.
  4. I was introduced to the idea of a "Front Door List"....if you don't know what it is....it's a list of who you could not say not to if they...well, nevermind...just use your imagination! I trying to figure out who would be on my list...Matthew McConaughey is definitely on there...and maybe Josh Lucas, too!
  5. I have 4 cakes to do this weekend...hope my wrist can keep up!
  6. I have signed up for 2 more half-marathons...the Atlanta 13.1 on October 2 in um, well, Atlanta and I also signed up for the Publix Half next March...which is the one I did a few weeks ago.
  7. The Peachtree Road Race is 12 weeks from tomorrow...this will be Peachtree #7 for me and I am hoping to shave some serious time off the pathetic amount of time it has taken me to complete the Peachtree in years past.
  8. I ran half a mile yesterday....without stopping...and I didn't die. That might seem like nothing to a lot of people...but it is a pretty big deal for me. Still trying to convince myself that I am a runner. A huge thank you to JH and CE for running with me and being my personal cheerleaders and encouragers. "Just keep running...just keep running!"
  9. I wish I lived in Atlanta or at least a heck of a lot closer to it. I went to Piedmont Park with some friends yesterday to walk/run and it was beautiful. I have been to the park before for screen on the green and that is where the Peachtree Road Race ends, but this was the first time I had really walked through a lot of the park. If I lived closer, I would be there...all. the. time.
  10. Speaking of Piedmont, they have a huge dog park. We decided yesterday that taking George to the dog park at Piedmont needs to be my new strategy for meeting Mr. Right. What guy could pass up a cute girl with an even cuter dog, right?!?
That's all for now...
